The Dewerstone's opening track tells the story of Richard Cabell. A man whose evil reputation was such that his death in 1677 was, it is said, presaged by a pack of spectral hounds who came from the depths of the moor to escort his soul to hell. Cabell is also believed to be the inspiration for the wicked Hugo Baskerville, one of the central characters in Conan Doyle's novel The Hound of the Baskervilles.

Verse 1:

In the heart of the misty moor
Lay the body of a man so foul
Locked behind iron doors
And the echo of spectral howls
For here lies Richard Cabell
A man of many sins
The villain of this fable
This is where his tale begins

A man with reputation
For committing acts so vile
He sold his soul to Satan
And he lived his life reviled
A conduit for evil
Seeks pleasure from the kill
Like a wretched demon
His life has no other thrill

Then one fateful night
With a waxing crescent moon
Cabell's life did pass
And it couldn't come too soon
Buried under stone
In a great, foreboding crypt
The Devil's sent his hounds
To collect on Cabell's debt
