The Sepulchre
06:36
|
|||
Verse 1:
In the heart of the misty moor
Lay the body of a man so foul
Locked behind iron doors
And the echo of spectral howls
For here lies Richard Cabell
A man of many sins
The villain of this fable
This is where his tale begins
Chorus:
A man with reputation
For committing acts so vile
He sold his soul to Satan
And he lived his life reviled
A conduit for evil
Seeks pleasure from the kill
Like a wretched demon
His life has no other thrill
Verse 2:
Then one fateful night
With a waxing crescent moon
Cabell's life did pass
And it couldn't come too soon
Buried under stone
In a great, foreboding crypt
The Devil's sent his hounds
To collect on Cabell's debt
Chorus
Bridge:
Come to me x2
Verse 3:
Clouds hung over Devon
That night the rain did fall
Pouring from the heavens
As God heeded Satan's call
From the murky darkness
Came a pale phantom light
The hounds of the devil have come to
Claim his soul tonight
Chorus
Verse 3:
Now on the misty moors
In the blackness of the night
You may well be greeted by a pale phantom light
For Richard Cabell lives
A phantasmagoric spectre
Accompanied by whist hounds
As the Devil's soul collector

A Giant's End
07:36
|
|||
Verse 1:
In the days of the witches and kings
Brave warriors land on Totnes shores
Guided by owls wings
To a new land to explore
But among the valleys and forests
Lived creatures of fearsome size
Towering above the mists
With piercing sunken eyes
The giants of Goemagot
Who claimed the land as theirs
Insisted the warriors to go
And their lives they would spare
Verse 2:
The warriors refused
Standing tall and proud
The mighty horde then drew their swords and charged into the crowd
Fighting as like animals
They hacked and slashed and bludgeoned
Slaughtering the giants with all the power they could summon
With no chance of winning
The giants did despair
But not once did they think of turning back and running
They fought hard and strong
Until the bitter end
To protect their homeland that they swore to defend
Chorus:
Blood stains the English shores
The rivers and the moors
Verse 3:
Bested by warriors of Troy
With hatred in their souls
Houses lay destroyed
In a land they once called home
Run
Verse 4:
Run
Back to the caves
Hide
And your lives may be saved
They will return
And hunt down all the rest
The sons of Goemagot
Must flee further south west
Verse 5:
With an arrow to the knee
Goemagot was too hurt to walk
Unable to flee
He hid himself in the Dartmoor bog
They men of Troy did find him
Then dragged him out the swamp
And waited for his wounded limb
To heal back at their camp
As his wounds were healing
The humans hatched a plan
A brutal fight until the death, giant versus man
They'd find the fallen giants
And invite them to watch
The fight between a giant and a man on the hoes edge
The giants did then come
Confident to win
Goemagot was three times taller they thought with a grin
How could they lose?
The man was small and weak
Their leader would crush him with his enormous physique
Chorus
Verse 6:
The battle did commence
And they wrestled 'round like pigs
Until the giant grabbed the man and crushed two of his ribs
Applause from the giants who thought the battle won
But little did they know the fight was very far from done
Angered by his error
The foreigner did rise
Then launched the giant down the cliff to a certain demise
The oceans ran red
For miles all around
And now the giant Goemagot would surely be dead

Between Life and Death
06:14
|
|||
Verse 1:
While the Sun is yet to rise
Over the picturesque blue seas
In a burning house a body lies
The corpse of Emma Keyes
Her throat is cut and flesh is scorched
Blood runs down the cracks of the floor
Papers of paraffin are torched
To hide this murder by the shore
Chorus:
Never seen such a gruesome sight before
Unthinkable pools of blood and gore
Verse 2:
Convinced they'd found the killer
The only man in the house, her servant John
What reason did he have to kill her?
In the lonely hours of a winter's dawn
Take him away and lock him up
Surely no one else that it could be
Soon you'll be before a judge
And stand on trial for all to see
Chorus
Bridge:
You'll be hanged from the neck until you're dead
On that day no tears will be shed
Save me from the gallows I don't want my life to end
Oh please God I plead to thee on you my life depends
I know not how long I've been here sitting in this cell
You know that I've done nothing wrong now free me from this hell!
"Murderer!"
Verse 3:
As take the longest walk
To the rope that now awaits my neck
I watch the guardsman talk
Test the ropes and double check
The wood creaks as I climb the steps
And a winter's breeze does chill the air
Calmly I await what's next
For it's clear that God doesn't care
Chorus
Verse 4:
I close my eyes and say a final prayer
The lever's pulled but yet here I stand
The executioner sighs and swears
For I am still a living man
They check the door and try again
But yet I still don't fall
After a third amen
I live to breathe another day

Verse 1:
The fathomless depths of Classenwell
are never ending
A blackened pit of despair
A place of mystery and tragedy
Under the tor
Lonesome travelers beware
The gateway to another plane
So cold and dark
The spirits reach out to you
To show you things won't believe
In black waters
The next parishioner's doom
Chorus:
On a Midsummer's Eve
A voice cries out
As though in torment, a door to purgatory
If you stare into the abyss
The abyss stares back
A vision of agony
Verse 2:
Endless myths surround the pool
Of Classenwell
Tales of the undead
They come to seek their revenge
On the living
Spreading fear and dread
Tainted by the blood of man
Drowned in torment
By spirits trapped in the beyond
Rejects of the Devil himself
The eternally wronged
Bridge:
I won't die
Beware
Beware
The spirits of Classenwell
Travel there if you dare
(X2)
On the next midsummer's night in the heart of the English moor
Keep away from Cramber tor and evil of Classenwell pool

The Dewerstone
05:21
|
|||
Verse 1:
Under the light of a frosted moon
A young traveler journeys on a road so cold
This place reeks of death on the path to a certain doom
He'll never see another day
The Devil stalks these woods in the dead of the night seeking out what's to be his next prey
Chorus:
The howls of monsters ring through the land like funeral bells
At the side of the Devil walks unholy hounds of hell
Verse 2:
Through the mists Old Dewer spots the young traveler all alone
His next victim to be forced to the top of The Dewerstone
Verse 3:
Running through the woods
Packs of whist hounds on his heels
Cloaked in a crimson hood
The Devil rides with grace and zeal again
Bridge:
He'll never see another day
The Devil stalks these woods seeking out his prey
Verse 4:
After running for a lifetime he knows his time is up
The young traveler accepts his fate as he knows he's out of luck
He turns around and stares into the depth of Satan's soul
His death lies in his hands as he takes the leap down the face of the Dewerstone
Chorus
Verse 5:
Through the mists Old Dewer spots another traveler all alone
His next victim to be forced to the top of The Dewerstone
Verse 6:
Running through the woods
Packs of whist hounds on his heels
Cloaked in a crimson hood
The Devil rides with grace and zeal again

Wrath of Cutty Dyer
06:40
|
|||
Verse 1:
These cursed waters run red with the blood of fools
In this darkness lurks a sprite hateful and cruel
He sits in waiting for children and drunken men
To drag them down to where they're never seen again
Never seen again
Pre Chorus:
In the cloak of night he stalks his prey
Red eyes pierce the blackest fog
Hunting those who dare to stray
Into the midst of Cutty Dyer's bog
Chorus:
From the waters he shall rise
Seeking those to brutalize
Verse 2:
A creature strong and tall he towers over any man
Hooked nose and blued skin slaughters anything he can
Fingernails to rip your throat and drink your still warm blood
Anything that dares to tread near the river of Yeo wood
The river of Yeo wood
Pre-chorus/chorus
Bridge:
In darkness beware
The sprite of the river
Screams fill the air
Merciless child killer
Verse 3:
So if you are to tread near the sprites river alone
Listen out for the creatures evil laughs and moans
For this sound shall fill the bravest men with fear
Cutty Dyer comes for you now the end is near
For you the end is near
Pre chorus/chorus

Stranger in the Fog
05:31
|
|||
Verse 1:
Many moons ago a young man named Jan made a pact with the lord below
To fund a lifestyle of excess where the women were many and the ale flowed
He was a drinker, gambler and a sinner seduced by the Devil's ways
But his life of indulgence led him to forget his debt to pay
Chorus:
Then on one October's day
The congregation at the local inn
Sheltered from the cold and grey
Waiting for church to begin
Verse 2:
Cutting through the sounds of laughter
Galloping hooves were heard
Getting closer and growing louder
A stranger drew toward
The horse and rider slid to a halt outside the Tavistock inn
Bursting through the wooden doors he stared at the patrons within
Dressed from head to toe in black he walked up to the bar
Silence fell across the inn and evil filled the air
He tossed a coin upon the counter and ordered the finest ale
A shaking hand did place one down to then complete the sale
With a sizzle from his throat the stranger quaffed his drink
And with one final look around he
Stared without a blink
After striding out the bar he mounted his fierce horse
And galloped away into the mist toward Widecombe moor
Shaken by this encounter the landlady opened the till
To inspect the stranger's coin as the air gained a sudden chill
But what was once glistening gold
Now appeared as something strange
It was now leaves dead and old
Amongst the other patrons change
Chorus
Verse 3:
That day as the service commenced young Jan did then arrive
Hoping to catch the eye of a pretty, young milk maid
But the vicar droned on and on and soon Jan drifted a slumber
Until the roof came crashing down in a blaze of lightning and thunder
From the roof the Devil leapt and landed among the rubble
Scooped up the young Jan Reynolds who began to fight and struggle
But for this resistance the Devil did not care
Who carried Jan under the hole and flew into the air
Many lay wounded from the tumbling debris
Dust filled the church so all were struggling to see
No one really knows what became of the young man
All we know for sure is that he was never seen again
Chorus

Vixana
05:36
|
|||
Verse 1:
Through the darkness from the misty peaks
Down this winding road I hear Vixana call to me
The evil cackle and the echo of her voice
I know this is my destiny now I must make a choice
To choose the path I know so many have trod before
Then disappear forever in the black bog of the moor
Or hide away, scared in the safety of my den
And await the dreadful news that the witch has killed again
Chorus:
Fighting to stay awake
But struggling just drags me down
To suffer a morbid fate
Filling my lungs, I slowly drown
The coldness grips me tight
In a macabre embrace
Blackness takes my sight
And the afterlife awaits
Verse 2:
The time has come and now I know what I must do
I made a promise to the town now I must follow through
For I possess a power no other man can summon
A gift from the pixies to defeat this vile woman
As reward for saving them from the bog
The power of sight to see through the thickest of fog
And a ring laden with golden filigree
That grants the wearer the power of invisibility
Chorus
Bridge:
As I continue down the narrow winding path
I hear the horrid echo of the witches laugh
She casts a spell and fog descends through the trees
But I am no longer phased thanks to the pixies I can see
Bridge 2:
I peer through the mist and see her high upon the torre staring down below into the bog that I shall fall
A wry grin creeps across her face revealing two rotten teeth barely held in place
So I continue on the narrow path
And the confused witch prepares to unleash her wrath
Aware of the danger that I'm in
I reach into my pocket and slip on the magic ring
Verse 3:
Bewildered by this trick she starts to scream and yell
For she knows not where to direct her wicked, magic spells
Her frail arms wave her gnarled stick back and forth
As magic erupts and rains down on the earth
I climb upon the tor that she has always loomed
With a swift blow to the back I push her to her doom
Her skeletal figure tumbles down the Dartmoor rocks
The sound of her breaking bones ring through the land that she once stalked.
Chorus
